The story takes place in a boring little town in Iowa, the kind of place where nothing much happens. That is where the Grape family lives, the mother and her four children, the father having died. The elder son, Gilbert, played by Johnny Depp, works at a grocery store and cares for his family, particularly looking after his young brother Arnie, a mentally deficient person, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Thin red Line was released in France in 1999, and the digital 4K restoration arrived in France in August, 2016.
It’s an adaptation of James Jones’s 1962 novel, The Thin Red Line.
In this feature film, which was almost 6 hours long, many scenes were cut, the final version lasting two hours and fifty minutes.
So, the character played by Adrien Brody, who was the lead in the script, had been cut out of the finished film and reduced to a secondary role. Terrence Malick entirely removed whole roles too…
